WaiNot Native nursery is owned and operated by Steve & Steph Carroll.

WaiNot Native Nursery has NZ's sole Ellebag machine, making strong & robust, eco-friendly bags for our plants. Ellebags prevent soil loss, ensuring plant stability during stressful planting times out in the field.

Having been Dairy farmers in Waikite Valley up until 2018, we decided to sell our Dairy farm and develop a new business interest we had.

We built WaiNot Native nursery with the following goals:

growing hardy native species that are suitable to the Central Plateau/Rotorua area.
providing native plants at a reasonable price.

We decided to use the Ellebag system (designed by Ellepot). Ellebags have been used around the world for the past 30 years. It is relatively new in NZ, but has proven science behind it.
